At the beginning of the twentieth century, a reliable watch was of great importance for every pilot – only with such an item, exact navigation was possible. Today, of course, this is no longer the case, but the enthusiasm for the beautiful pilot watches hasn’t changed. Even today, they have important characteristics and attach the greatest value to functionality and classic design. Take a look at the pilot watches from our shop right now!

Tradition and development

Already since the 1930s, there are special pilot watches. They are in fact bigger and more robust than normal wristwatches. They were designed to not wear them underneath, but over the jacket sleeves. In addition, they had large, protruding crowns helping the pilot to operate them even with gloves. Needless to say, the numerals and hands had to be well visible without any problems. The mostly rotatable bezel could be set before the start of the flight and thus the flight time could be recognized quickly.

But with the arising of technical progress, the number and complexity of the displays in the cockpit, which are monitored by pilots, also increased. Accordingly, the instruments of the pilots are usually round and with bright hands on black background, hence with a contrast as high as possible. This design has been adopted for most pilot watches. In addition, there is a self-luminous fluorescent colour on the hands for a better readability at night.

Pilot watches are very popular among aviation enthusiasts who love a high-quality wristwatch. In our shop you will find a wide selection of well-known brands, such as Junkers, Swiss Military, Zeppelin, Traser or Citizen, in various price categories.

Junkers 6826-4

Junkers pilot watches are well-known for their historical reference to the legendary Iron Annies. Just like their archetype, they stand for durability, robustness and a distinctive design. The fascinating epoch of aircraft history is revived with these watches. One look at any of the Junkers watches once again conveys the fascination of flying. As a successful example, we chose the Junkers 6826-4 men’s watch. The robust black leather strap is characterized by a bright seam, two press buttons and a stainless-steel strap. In addition to the black Arabic numerals, the gray dial also includes several chronographs, as well as a weekday and date display, which are integrated into an aviation image. The two knobs for adjusting the chronographs also convey a certain cockpit look and a complex design.

The Zeppelin pilot watches are also an excellent choice for all friends and followers who are attracted to the aviation tradition and history. The Zeppelin brand, like the Zeppelin airship Hindenburg, embodies classical and timeless beauty with precision and technical sophistication. The watches created by Zeppelin are therefore a dream for many watch lovers and especially pilot watch enthusiasts. This example shows the Zeppelin 7680M-2 men’s watch with a durable silver-coloured stainless steel Milanese bracelet. The dial of this watch is very complex, too. In addition to the white chronographs on a black background, there are also minute markers indicating the stop function.
