The Nextime 3211 is a very special designer wall clock made of stone and wood. These materials are so rarely used among the various categories of wall clocks. Let yourself be inspired by it!

The designer wall clock Nextime 3211

This modern wall clock has a diameter of 39.5 cm and is 5 cm deep. It is powered by a silent quartz movement and can therefore also be counted among silent clocks. It has an hour hand and a minute hand made of wood. A brown wooden ring is also set into the gray stone case to serve as the indices. No other line or numeral indices are present.

This beautiful designer clock was created by product designer Jette Scheib. She studied at the University of the Arts in Berlin and has been working as an independent designer and interior decorator since 2005, with a focus on home accessories. In collaboration with the manufacturer Nextime, several other very special wall clocks have already been made.

Why a wall clock made of stone?

This material is not quite real stone. Simply because otherwise the clock would be much too heavy to be mounted securely on the wall. That is why this clock uses a kind of artificial stone, also called polyresin. This artificial stone has been gray-mottled to faithfully recreate the look of natural stone.

As artificial stone; also called marblite, polyresin or artificial sandstone, mineral or resin-bonded materials are referred to that have been made with aggregates such as sand and crushed rock. Artificial stone is used, among other things, for window sills, stairs and floor coverings as well as wall tiles in construction. There are quartz materials for kitchen countertops that are artificial stone in the broadest sense. Artificial stone is also used for decorative objects that serve as decoration. As in this case for our Nextime wall clock.

Artificial stone emerged as an alternative to the range of natural stones from the mid-19th century onward. Artificial stone is not worked stone, which artists sculpt like natural stone.
