Our watch of the week is the AMS 5965 from the AMS Design series. The
wall clock is enhanced by a superb wood finish, which can be found not only on this wall clock, but also on many other furnishing elements. In this article, learn more about the AMS 5965 and the various uses and properties of wood finishes.
Wood finishes in many elements
Natural-looking wood grain has an elegant, timeless appeal. The classic design can be used in many different ways and perfectly complements any style. Whether in interior design, furniture, parquet flooring, watches, or other decorations. Whether oak, beech, or birch – wood finishes imitate real wood without compromise. This "other" wood is usually made from a synthetic resin or surface-treated synthetic resin that—much like veneer—is applied to a base material such as chipboard. These finishes are not without advantages. For example, they are water-resistant and can withstand some other chemical compounds. They also resist certain mechanical impacts, such as scratches or abrasion, and are also resistant to particularly high and low temperatures. However, these advantages must be viewed critically. When using decorative finishes, for example, you have to accept that they are a fossil raw material and are not biodegradable.
Our AMS 5965
Our classic wall clock is round and 35 cm in diameter. It has a wide plastic frame with a multi-colored wood finish. The dial is beige with black Arabic numerals and hands. Not to be forgotten, the clock is also a radio-controlled wall clock. The dial and wood-finish case are protected by mineral glass. Many other
AMS clocks in the AMS Design series have been decorated with wood finishes. One example is the AMS 5975, which is built very similarly to our watch of the week, although with a slightly different color scheme for the wood finishes. Still, definitely just as much of an eye-catcher!
