Citizen AR5000-68A Eco-Drive

Citizen AR5000-68A Eco-Drive

As watch of the week, today we present the Citizen men’s watch Eco-Drive AR5000-68A. Citizen describes the model as the world’s thinnest light-powered watch!

Before we look at the watch’s special features, it is important to understand Citizen’s so-called Eco-Drive movement. The term roughly translates as "ecological drive". Citizen uses this name for a line of quartz wristwatches. All watches powered by Eco-Drive are supplied with electricity via a solar cell.
However, there are also models that generate energy from movement and a solar cell, or from heat. In general, though, the term refers to the solar cell.
When this solar cell is fully charged, the watch can run for between 150 and 300 hours (power reserve) without being recharged by light. This also explains the terms "power reserve" or "dark power reserve". Citizen launched the first Eco-Drive models in 1995. By now, this technology is very well established and has been equally well received in the market. Since 2002, Citizen radio-controlled watches have also been available with Eco-Drive movement.

The Eco-Drive AR5000-68A is available in two dial colors, white and black (AR5000-50E).
Both models are rather simple in design and have a case diameter of 3.9 cm with a height of 2.98 mm.
A solar-powered watch with such a low height is something truly special, and that is probably why both models were Citizen’s flagship models in 2016.
The models can also be described as high-end Eco Drive watches, as the power reserve really is 300 hours. The anti-reflective sapphire crystal is just as solid as the strap and the watch’s stainless steel case. The watches are supplied with a folding clasp.

We offer a 3-year warranty and an extended return policy on all Citizen models. We are also happy to advise you by phone when making your selection.
