The Citizen brand

In 1918, the "Shoukousha Watch Research Institute" was founded, from which the "CITIZEN Watch Co." later emerged. In the 1920s, almost all watches available in Japan were still imported from overseas. CITIZEN's first watch appeared on the Japanese market in 1924, six years after the company was founded. During those six years, the founder opened the watchmaking school to train his employees and turn them into experts in precision watchmaking. Today, CITIZEN WATCH is a true watchmaking manufacturer with a comprehensive production process that ranges from the development and manufacture of the individual components of a watch to final assembly. The company operates in more than 100 countries around the world.

The Citizen JY8085-14H

The watch of the week has a radio-controlled movement with Eco-Drive drive and is therefore a radio-controlled wristwatch as well as a solar watch. The movement has a power reserve of 180 days and a dark power reserve of 3.5 years. The wristwatch has a black leather strap and a black titanium case. The dial is also black with white baton markers and three Arabic numerals, and the hands are luminous. In addition to the classic functions of a wristwatch, this watch can also stop time, display the power reserve, has a world time function, a perpetual calendar, and dial illumination. Thanks to its 20 bar water resistance, the watch is also automatically a diving watch. Another version is the Citizen JY8100-80L. This is the same model; it differs only in the color and material of the strap. It has a silver-colored titanium link bracelet and a silver-colored titanium case. The dial here is dark blue and not black like our watch of the week.
