The AMS 342 as a complement to modernity
What does Modern mean?
Modernity historically refers to a turning point in numerous areas of life compared with tradition, brought about by the Industrial Revolution, the Enlightenment, and secularization. In philosophy, modernity coincides with the Enlightenment. Today, we understand modernity as being modern, open to the present, and in tune with contemporary taste.
The term "aesthetic modernity" refers to the departure from the centuries-old canon, which begins around 1800 with regard to formal principles such as perspective, rules of proportion, the golden ratio, and other image symmetries, and extends as a process through the following, sometimes also conservative phases in the sense of an aesthetic reinterpretation of earlier formalisms.
The term "Classical Modernism" refers to the variety of avant-garde styles in the visual arts that are still regarded today as groundbreaking, up to the mid-20th century. The German Bauhaus stood out as a cultural seedbed of modernity. Modernity in architecture always has something groundbreaking and new about it, perhaps new colors and forms that always set themselves apart from everything that came before.
Modernism in the history of architecture refers to an architectural era that cannot be clearly defined in general terms. Often, it refers to the internationally used visual language that developed within the art movement now called classical modernism at the beginning of the 20th century and is still partly used today.
The AMS 342 as a classic wall clock
The living spaces we show as examples, such as living rooms, are usually very modern. They offer lots of room to dream and imagine for many people who want to realize themselves. But you do not necessarily have to decorate a modern living space with modern decorations. We prefer to combine classic pieces with a modern living space. They can also be vintage or antique-style.
We show you the AMS 342 as a classic mechanical wall clock and pendulum clock. It has a silver-colored case, pendulum, and weights. The dial is classically white with black Roman numerals and ornate hands. The chain drive with the long, narrow weights also has something very classic and elegant about it.
