Dixtime 3D-0352 with Pocket Watch Design

Our watch of the week is the Dixtime 3D-0352. The modern wall clock looks extremely mysterious thanks to the various clock and eye motifs. But what is this wall clock all about, and why is it a designer wall clock? Read on to find out more!

In all Dixtime wall clocks, an artistic motif is transferred onto a high-quality, 4 mm thin aluminium Dibond panel. High-resolution digital printing gives it fine details and vivid colours. A silky-matte, ultra-thin, scratch-resistant UV protective film makes it easier to read, protects the clock long-term, and prevents distracting reflections. The Alu-Dibond is slightly shaped so that the wall clock creates a unique 3D visual effect on the wall. Every Dixtime clock is not only designed in a unique way; all wall clocks also feature a silent quartz movement and a sweeping second hand.

Motif and symbolism of the clock

Vanitas motifs share a traditional theme that has endured through the ages: they are meant to show that humans have no power over life. It is not the transient that is meant to seem worthless, but the attempts to display and preserve it. On the contrary, the condemnation of vain depictions is intended to enhance the value of the transient; these depictions therefore criticise themselves by justifying themselves, making their inadequacy clear, or warning against it.

The most striking are images of what has passed and what is passing, such as skulls or hourglasses, which indicate that they cannot depict anything living. Clocks stand for time, especially lifetime, and thus for mortality. They do not have to be hourglasses; mechanical pocket watches convey the same message. But as luxury goods, they also stand for wealth and earthly possessions.

Our Dixtime 3D-0352

The modern Dixtime 3D-0352 wall clock depicts three pocket watches of different sizes. All three clocks show the time shortly before one o'clock. Behind the dial is a large, dark, mysterious eye. The dial is also surrounded by a circle and features white Arabic numerals.
