Dreizeit Laser Cut No. 1 in Stainless Steel

„rest, labour, recreation“

As far as work is concerned, there has been a legally regulated 8-hour workday for over a hundred years. We also encounter the 8 hours again when it comes to sleep: adults spend that much time sleeping on average, and that also matches the recommendation of sleep research. That still leaves 8 hours more or less at our free disposal. Unfortunately, this balance is often thrown off, so that alongside work and externally determined time, leisure time gets too short or is offset by too little sleep. The dreizeit design therefore embodies the ideal: it represents the day through three rotations of 8 hours each. Each rotation of the hand symbolizes time that we spend, continuously or not, either working, in leisure, or sleeping. The dreizeit slogan “rest, labour, recreation” takes up the motto with which Robert Owen first demanded the 8-hour workday in Australia over 200 years ago. The design wall clocks of the dreizeit brand were designed by Michael Heethoff, and their unusual division of time makes them real eye-catchers. Reading the clocks is easy - even if it takes a little getting used to at first. Because of the three rotations, each hour appears three times and is shown by a 45° segment. On the 24-hour dial, each hour thus shares its position with two other times, each offset by 8 hours.

Our dreizeit Lasercut No. 1

The Dreizeit Lasercut No.1 clock of the week is made from stainless steel, from which the dial and thus the Arabic numerals were cut out using a laser. That means the modern wall clock does not need a crystal to protect the dial. As a single-hand concept, dreizeit does not use a minute hand. So to read the wall clock correctly, you only need to know whether it is night, morning, or afternoon.
