Kronaby and Citizen Smartwatches Compared
Functions of Smartwatches
The smartwatch, the English word for a smart watch, has grown steadily more popular over the years. Today, there are already many manufacturers that want to follow the trend and now offer smartwatches. These include Kronaby, Garmin, Citizen and even Tommy Hilfiger. But is it just a trend, or has the smartwatch proven itself to be a practical everyday companion that is not only very useful for businesspeople? You should answer this question for yourself, however, because attitudes toward technology and smartphones in our society are still very different.
If you have been thinking about buying a smartwatch for some time, then this article is exactly right for you. At Uhren4you.de, we tested two smartwatches that, at first glance, do not look like they could be counted among smartwatches. We show how they work and what you can do with them in our 2017 smartwatch test:
The Citizen BZ1006-82E
It is a wristwatch that does not look like a smartwatch at first glance. As you would first assume with new smartwatches, you cannot read messages or open apps here. The Bluetooth Watch is used only for notifications and setting a timer. This is done using the buttons and the crown on the watch itself. All other functions of the watch, such as the perpetual calendar, battery discharge indicator or 24-hour display, are also operated via the watch itself. Alongside all these functions, the elegant look of the men’s wristwatch is not lost.
Citizen is also referred to by the manufacturer as a Bluetooth Watch. First, you download the Citizen Bluetooth app to your smartphone. After you have activated Bluetooth and the app, the two electronic devices pair with each other. You can then decide on your smartphone what you want to be notified about by your watch. There is a wide selection of SMS, calls, calendar notifications, as well as notifications from apps such as Instagram, Facebook, WhatsApp and many more. The notification then comes through as a vibration from the watch and a short beep.
The Kronaby A1000-0793
At first glance, this watch seems even less like a smartwatch than the Citizen watch. The dial is plain white, with black Arabic numerals and silver hands, but from the outside it does not seem as though you can read anything other than the time here. But don’t be fooled. The secret of the Kronaby smartwatch lies in the buttons and the crown.
Here too, you first download the Kronaby app. Then open it and hold down the watch crown. The app and watch will then automatically find each other and pair. After calibration, you reach the main menu. Here, you first choose a function, either controlling the dial, the three buttons including the crown, the vibration, or the activity tracker.
For example, if you choose the buttons, you can decide exactly which functions they should have. You simply drag the respective field onto one of the buttons in the app. This can be changed as often as you like. As soon as that button is pressed, the selected function is carried out. You can choose between 'Find phone', meaning that pressing the button triggers a sound signal on the phone. As well as 'Music Control', which lets you turn the music down and up using the top and bottom buttons. 'Camera', which triggers a photo on the phone when pressed. And other functions such as 'Walk me home', 'Mute phone' or 'Remember this sport'.
So the Kronaby smartwatch for women and men can be tailored and adapted entirely to your own needs!
