Women’s Watch Gift for Mother’s Day

At this time of year, millions of sons and daughters are once again wondering whether and what they can give their mother, and how the day in honour of all mothers could become something special. Every year, Mother’s Day falls on the second Sunday in May, and many mothers look forward each year to breakfast in bed, a cake, flowers, a day with the family, or simply a nice little gesture. We have put together a selection of women’s watches to help you give someone a treat. Of course, it is up to each person whether and how much they want to give. Our watch selection is therefore intended only as inspiration for possible gifts.

Why do we celebrate Mother’s Day?

The origins of Mother’s Day go back to the US and English women’s movement and began in 1865 with the founding of a mothers’ movement by the American Ann Marie Reeves Jarvis. The movement was called Mothers Friendship Day, and at the meetings she organised, mothers had the opportunity to exchange views on topics related to motherhood and child-rearing. The day was also used as a current occasion for pleasant conversations among women. In Europe too, various associations and movements by and for women emerged in the 1860s, aiming for better educational opportunities for girls, more women’s rights, and peace projects. The Women’s Environmental Federation – founded in 1890 – then campaigned at international women’s congresses for greater recognition of mothers.

Our women’s wristwatch for Mother’s Day

There are two beautiful wristwatches, both of which make excellent gifts. The Citizen EM0500-73L is a solar watch with an elegant look. It has a silver-coloured stainless steel link bracelet and a matching case. The dial is dark blue with an exciting geometric pattern and an unusual dot index. The Bering 12131-307 features a blue Milanese bracelet made of stainless steel and a silver-coloured case. The dial of this quartz watch is also blue, with a small, fine baton index.
