Poljot International Watches from the Gorbachev Series
This week, our watch of the week is actually two watches of the week! Both watches are from the Poljot International brand and come from the Gorbatchov series. Each is limited to just 250 models. Every watch comes with a certificate that shows which of the 250 models it is. Two very special watches that we will take a closer look at today...
The Story of Gorbatchov
The automatic watches were developed and produced to mark Michael Gorbatchov's 70th birthday as anniversary watches. Mikhail Sergeyevich Gorbachev is a Russian politician. From March 1985 to August 1991, he was General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union (CPSU), and from March 1990 to December 1991, he was President of the Soviet Union. On December 25, 1991, Gorbachev resigned as President of the Soviet Union. He introduced new accents in Soviet politics with Glasnost (openness) and Perestroika (restructuring). In disarmament negotiations with the US, he initiated the end of the Cold War. He received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1990.
