SEIKO News August 2014
At Baselworld 2014, Seiko unveiled the world’s first GPS Solar Chronograph. This Seiko chronograph can automatically adjust to the time zone of the country.
The new model also offers new functions and new designs. Seiko presents 12 new Astron models.
ASTRON - the latest models in tune with the times
As early as 2012, Seiko introduced the first GPS Solar watch. Watches in this model series are able to receive time signals from GPS satellites. Depending on where the wearer is, the location is determined and the correct local time is automatically identified and displayed.
The new Seiko chronograph with the 8X82 caliber has all the essential functions of the highly successful previous 7X52 model. In addition, it offers four new functions developed on the basis of numerous suggestions from dealers and
Seiko enthusiasts from around the world. The new caliber does not replace the existing one, but instead is an addition designed to excite new customers for this model series.
The following features characterize the watch:
1. The new case is 30% smaller, and the watch dimensions (44.6mm x 13.3 mm) correspond to those of most multifunction watches. In addition, this Astron can now connect to the GPS network with a smaller antenna.
2. The "One-Touch" operation of the GPS function has not changed, and special functions such as manual time zone setting are easier to access and use thanks to an additional electronic crown.
3. It gets more colorful, because the latest extremely light-permeable dials make new dial colors possible.
