Seiko Watches SRPF23K1 Inspired by Comic Character Blanka

Our Watch of the Week is the Seiko watches SRPF23K1 Limited Edition from the Street Fighter series. Its distinctive green-and-orange color scheme makes this men's watch a tribute to the Street Fighter comic character Blanka. Find out more about the comic character and our Watch of the Week in this post.

The Street Fighter character Blanka

Blanka is a fictional character in Capcom's Street Fighter fighting game series. He first appeared in the 1991 video game Street Fighter II as one of eight playable characters and later featured in sequels and spin-off games. The character has appeared in other media adaptations of the franchise, including an animated film, a live-action film, an animated TV series, a comic book, and a manga series. Blanka was originally designed as a human character and underwent several redesigns during the production of Street Fighter II before he was finally portrayed as a wild man with green skin and long orange hair. Blanka's backstory is that he was once human, but mutated after a plane crash in Brazil (which led to his green color and his ability to generate electricity). Blanka was generally well received by critics and fans and became one of the most popular characters in the franchise.

Our Seiko SRPF23K1 watches

In our Watch of the Week, the Seiko watches SRPF23K1 features exactly these colors. The green tone of his skin is reflected in the watch's nylon strap and dial. The orange hair can also be seen on the edge of the nylon strap. The case is a black stainless steel case, and the case back is transparent, but the serial number and the Street Fighter logo can be seen on it. The bezel is unidirectional and features a yellow-green pattern. This could hint at the electricity Blanka can generate. The green dial has a spiral whirlpool texture and a pointed, silver baton marker. Inside, there is a fine red chapter ring and yellow hands. These hands are coated with LumiBrite and can therefore glow in the dark. The watch has an automatic movement with a power reserve of 41 hours and can be hand-wound.
