Sustainable Holzkern Paris Wooden Watch
It’s not just a fashion trend: jewellery made from natural materials looks great and is sustainable. A sustainable watch is a statement nowadays! Today, there are watchmakers making wooden watches who pay very close attention to where their wood comes from and how the watch is produced, while avoiding plastic and chemicals and creating designs that really stand out! That goes for our Watch of the Week too, the Holzkern Paris. Find out more now about this wooden wristwatch and what makes it so special.
Sustainable wooden watches
The most obvious reason first: wood is a renewable raw material. Because it is a natural material, every watch looks different. Every wooden wristwatch has its own grain, making it unique rather than mass-produced. In addition, processing it requires far less energy and water than other materials. Sustainable watches from Holzkern are made from natural woods. For example walnut, rosewood, zebrawood or maple wood. While the strap and case are made from natural wood, stone is often used for the dial as well, which looks pretty cool. A dial made of blue sodalite or marble, for example, with a walnut wood case, definitely has something going for it. In addition to quartz watches, Holzkern also offers automatic movements. These come from Citizen or Epson. For every watch sold, €1 goes to reforestation projects in Nicaragua (Prima Klima) or to the employment of people with disabilities (Caritas Linz).
Our Holzkern Paris
Our Watch of the Week is the Holzkern Paris. The women's watch features a brown link bracelet made of antique anthracite-coloured stainless steel and leadwood. Every Holzkern strap is adjustable in size. The case and bezel are made of the same material. The dial is a grey-brown, elegant marble dial with a silver baton and dot index. Since this is a mechanical wristwatch, you can see a small, round open balance on the dial, offering a view of the movement.
