Ingersoll draws on a long history
The Ingersoll company looks back on a very long history and was founded as early as 1892 by the Ingersoll brothers in New York. The small family business initially focused on selling watches produced by other manufacturers. In 1896, however, the brothers introduced the legendary one-dollar watch, a pocket watch sold for one dollar under the model name “Yankee”. The Dollar Watch became so popular that several million of these watches were produced. Famous figures such as Thomas Drake, Thomas A. Edison, T. Roosevelt, and James Dean wore and loved their Ingersoll watches. Today, the main headquarters of Ingersoll Ltd. is in London, but the manufacturer now sells its extensive watch range worldwide.
