The Karlsson KA5730 Book Clock
Our watch of the week is the Karlsson KA5730 Book Clock. Books have long since been not just a means of passing on knowledge, or a communicative medium in general, but also decorations that fill living spaces with life and stories.
The Tradition of the Book
In the traditional sense, a book is a collection of printed, written, painted, or even blank sheets of paper or other suitable materials, bound together and usually fitted with a cover. The book is a cultural product that presupposes the overcoming of illiteracy and is based on the development of written language. Its use as a communicative medium requires writing skills or printing technology and the ability to read.
A place where many books are collected is the library. There, all the books are lined up and placed on large shelves. Our watch of the week also represents a collection of books that can be placed on a shelf.
More specifically, it is a table clock that looks like three standing books. The middle book has gold-colored hands as well as the numbers 12 and 6. The two outer, smaller books have the spelled-out numbers three and nine in gold. The clock is finished in a delicate pink shade. The case itself is actually made of sturdy cardboard, just like a real book. It therefore feels and smells like a real book too. A real eye-catcher for all book fans! The designer of this little gem is Sjoerd van Heumen.
Different versions of the Karlsson KA5730
If the pink tones do not suit your own four walls, the Karlsson clocks are also available in a wide variety of colors. How about a colorful one? Then they barely stand out on the bookcase and are a real insider tip! No visitor will spot the clock on the shelf that quickly when you ask them to look for it!
