Time as Felt - Watches for the Blind
For many people, a glance at their watch is enough to know what time it is. Unfortunately, blind people do not have that option. So how do blind people tell the time? This important question was also asked by Josef Mantz, who lost his sight at the age of 66. He learned to read the time in a different way.
On a special pocket watch for blind people, he could feel the time.
A hunter case protects the dial, and above it is a glass cover, so he could run his fingers over the numerals. The raised dots on the numerals and hands are easy to feel and are made more robust than those on other watches.
Even today, watches equipped with bold hands are still used. However, development has moved even further forward today, because talking watches are now also widespread, announcing the time in the form of wristwatches, alarm clocks, and pendant watches.
