The rosy Casio LA680WEA-2CEF

Our watch of the week is the Casio LA680WEA-2CEF. The women's watch features a colorful floral pattern on the dial, harking back to the hippie wave of the 70s.

The Flower Power Movement

The so-called hippie movement stood above all for liberation from social constraints and taboos. Although many of the goals and ideals of the hippie movement and the actual 1968 movement overlapped, there were also many differences. In general, hippies were more focused on the self-realization of each individual. Many hippies, whose catchphrase was famously Flower Power, lived together in so-called communes.

They rejected violence and stood for peace, equality, community, and free love. Social attitudes toward sexuality were completely different at the time. The young generation wanted to break radically with that. The use of drugs - especially mind-altering hallucinogenic drugs - was widespread in the Flower Power movement. People smoked cannabis and also took powerful intoxicants such as LSD.

Visually, too, the Flower Power movement was characterized by unusual clothing. Wide trousers and long skirts, vests, blouses, colorful prints, fringe, peace necklaces, and above all lots of flowers. Whether as jewelry, in the hair, as necklaces, or on clothing. The hippie wave was dressed in colorful, vibrant, and flower-filled style.

Our Casio LA680WEA-2CEF

Casio also brings back this Flower Power and shows how a modern women's watch can be styled with it. Casio relies on the familiar look of classic analog wristwatches with a link bracelet.

The strap as well as the case are made of silver-colored stainless steel. On the dial, you will find Casio's familiar analog time display. The only difference is that the dial is also decorated with colorful roses. The background is turquoise blue, and the roses shown are pink and purple. This Casio wristwatch is a dream for both an older and a younger lady. With it, Casio has also ventured into a feminine look alongside its sporty watches.
