Women's Watches for International Women's Day
March 8 is International Women’s Day. International Women’s Day has been celebrated for more than 100 years. On International Women’s Day (also sometimes called World Women’s Day, Women’s Fight Day, Women’s Day, or simply Women’s Day), women around the world demonstrate for equality and against discrimination against women. We believe that women should treat themselves to something special on this occasion, or that one could give a great gift in honor of women! International Women’s Day
International Women’s Day has its roots in the women workers’ movement of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. It is not entirely clear when and where the idea for a political "women’s fight day" first emerged. What is clear, however, is that in many countries from the end of the 19th century onward, women’s and women workers’ movements called for a day on which women nationwide, or worldwide, would advocate for equality, higher wages, and better working conditions for women, as well as for women’s suffrage and against discrimination. In Germany, International Women’s Day is a public holiday in only one federal state: Berlin. In January 2019, the Berlin House of Representatives passed a corresponding resolution and added World Women’s Day as a public holiday to the "Law on Sundays and Public Holidays" of the state of Berlin. Worldwide, International Women’s Day is a public holiday in a total of 26 countries.
