Wooden Wristwatches
Laimer wooden watches at Uhren4you.de
Although the wooden watch market is still quite young, there are now a wide variety of providers. We present the Laimer wooden wristwatches from our shop.
The Laimer brand is a young label founded in 2012 in South Tyrol.
Patrick Laimer, founder and CEO of LAiMER GmbH, had already been working in the woodworking sector as a carpenter for over 10 years, hence his love for the material. Because alongside the latest developments, environmental protection also plays a major role here. That is why only FSC-certified wood remnants from the furniture industry are used. The wood remnants can, for example, be maple wood, sandalwood, zebrano wood or hackberry wood .
Laimer- They have correctly recognized the spirit of the times and combined elegance and lifestyle in their wooden watches.
Maple wood
Maple wood refers to the wood of maple trees. They belong to the genus of deciduous trees and shrubs that are widespread across large parts of Eurasia and North America. Maple wood is used mainly in furniture production. The wood of mountain maples, for example, is among the valuable hardwoods. The surfaces are easy to work with and can be easily polished, stained, and dyed. The wood splits easily and behaves well when varnished. Here you can see an example of the Laimer men's watch 0011 made of maple wood.
Sandalwood
The sandalwood tree (Santalum album) is a plant species in the sandalwood family. The sandalwood tree is cultivated in many tropical regions and used in a variety of ways. Under this name, two woods are sold in trade. They have different properties and uses and also come from completely different trees. There is red sandalwood, a colored wood, and secondly the white and yellow variety. This example shows a dark-colored sandalwood watch from our shop- the Laimer men's watch 0018.
Zebrano
Microberlinia is a genus of plants in the subfamily Caesalpinioideae of the legume family (Fabaceae). These two species are widespread in tropical western central Africa. Both produce tropical premium wood that is traded under the names Zebrano or Zingana. The wood is yellowish-white with deep brown stripes and gray sapwood. It is quite hard, which makes it well suited for wooden watch production. We show you the Laimer men's watch 0052 in zebrano wood with striking grain patterns.
A wooden watch – just as good as a traditional watch?
We can answer this question with a clear “yes.” However, it must be noted that this is literally a watch made of wood. This means that these watches can have both a case and a strap made of wood. As a result, they are naturally somewhat more delicate than if they were made of steel or metal. Therefore, a wooden watch can also never have a higher water resistance than 3 ATM. Because the sensitive material should be protected from water so that it does not swell or warp.
If you keep this in mind when wearing a wooden watch, you will enjoy such a wristwatch just as long as any other watch.
