Eight-day movement

The eight-day movement is a mechanical watch movement with a particularly long power reserve. Originally, the eight-day movement was only available in pocket watches or alarm clocks. The single mainspring was too large for wristwatches. Today, some manufacturers have succeeded in equipping wristwatches with this long power reserve as well. The eight-day movement is available with a winding mechanism or as an automatic. It is very rare and correspondingly expensive.
