Since the end of the 18th century, the popular sign clocks have been manufactured. For a long time, sign clocks were the flagship of Black Forest watchmaking and even more sought after than cuckoo clocks. 250 years ago, the Black Forest sign clocks were mainly found in the houses of the high nobility. But today, sign clocks are accessible to everyone. The traditional wall clocks, i.e. the sign clocks (also lacquer sign clocks or lacquer sign clocks), are still designed today with great attention to detail and elaborately manufactured. A sign clock usually consists of a square case with a half-arch attached. The motif of the sign clock is still designed by an artist's hand today. This gives the sign clocks the typical look of a clock from the Black Forest. You can find sign clocks from AMS and Mayr.
