Geologically, the material slate, which also plays a role in the production of wall clocks, is a group of metamorphic rocks. Under high pressure, new phyllosilicates have formed from the minerals of clayey sedimentary rocks, all of which are aligned parallel (= schistos) and thus cause the good cleavage of the rock. In the production of slate watches, the manufacturers Vaerst and AMS in particular deliberately used this material in the production of their watches. The Vaerst brand manufactures its watches exclusively from slate and has now developed a unique position for itself. Slate watches are offered with quartz movements, radio movements or as pendulum clocks.

Slate - natural rock in its most beautiful form!

Natural slate is a unique natural product that was created no less than 400 million years ago. One of the properties of slate is durability. The formation of the shale is based on very high Tekotnic pressure, which caused the clay rock to fold.

A slate roof is certainly familiar to most people, but why not hang or place a clock made of slate in the living room. These look particularly elegant due to the mostly bright or even shiny hands on the black slate. In addition, the care of slate is quite easy. As long as you make sure to use an acid-free and non-leaching detergent, everything is good. Although special products for cleaning slate are available on the market, simple soft soap will do the trick.
